Jane Frederick, Essex Gardens Trust Artist in Residence returns this summer with her popular Draw & Tour workshops at three magnificent new venues. Each small and friendly workshop is designed to help you develop your confidence in drawing outdoors whilst mindfully engaging with some of the most treasured gardens in Essex. Suitable for complete beginners, the day includes individual tuition, a guided tour of the gardens, all materials and afternoon refreshments.

Explore and draw in and around magnificent Audley End, a Jacobean architectural treasure and extensive gardens including a restored formal parterre, organic walled garden and sweeping views landscaped by Capability Brown.

Jane will introduce you to practical approaches to outdoor sketching and mark making and teach you how to capture the unique atmosphere of this complex and fascinating historical garden.

You will learn how to explore techniques for creating colourful and atmospheric impressions of the landscape, introducing you to innovative methods of using chalk pastels. These relaxed outdoor workshops will teach you how to really look and understand what you are drawing as well as encouraging you to be ‘Bold, Loose and Accurate’ with your approach.
